Hi my name is Angela Thomassen. In January, I had a car accident. Suddenly I could no longer do many things myself, was dependent on others and was in a lot of pain. At 10:00 am on the morning of 01-09-2011, a scaffold, on which I was working, fell. In early January 2011, I was knocked off my bike by a motorist on a right of way roundabout. I fell down hard. The driver exchanged details and I cycled home by myself. In 2004, Mr P.D. fell from a ladder while doing his job as a painter. He shattered his left knee in the process. He underwent several operations, received a knee replacement, but was never able to resume his former work as a painter. He eventually ended up in the WIA. As we could prove that the employer had failed in its duty of care for safe working conditions, his insurer had to admit liability.
