Many industrial accidents occur annually within the meat sector. Recently, the labour inspectorate completed an investigation into working conditions within this sector. The TV programme Nieuwsuur has accessed the report of this investigation and is devoting part of its broadcast to it tonight. The findings are seemingly shocking.

Part of the broadcast is a case we handled for one of our clients. A Greek temporary worker, employed in the Netherlands for just a few weeks, lost his right eye while working in an abattoir. While boning pigs' heads, he slipped and ended up with the knife in his eye. According to the labour inspectorate, the cause was incorrect work instructions and insufficient supervision of the work. The temporary employer wanted to pay off client with EUR 11,000. Arbeidsletsel Advocaten ensured that client was properly compensated for his personal injury.
